Color blocking is this years bold new trend. The spring runways exploded with vibrant hues that were impossible to ignore both for their brightness and their prominence. This look is far from new, but it's back with such a bang that you don't want to ignore it this year. There are lots of ways to make it work for you so here are a few examples of color blocking on the runways and color blocking in interior spaces.

Color blocking can also have a little softer look. The examples below are not to over the top but it has a nice blend of big bold blocks of color:

Here are some more hues that go great together:

1. Cobalt Blue, Yellow, Orange
2. Chocolate Brown, Pink, Peach

Color of the Year for 2011

Pantone says Honeysuckle Pink is replacing last year's turquoise for the Color of the Year.

"In times of stress, we need something to lift our spirits. Honeysuckle is a captivating, stimulating color that gets the adrenaline going - perfect to ward off the blues," explains Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute. “Honeysuckle derives its positive qualities from a powerful bond to its mother color red, the most physical, viscerally alive hue in the spectrum.”

This vibrant, energetic hue is the perfect color for spring and summer. It's an eye-catching color that will liven up any space. Add this flair with Honeysuckle patterned pillows, bedspreads, small appliances and tabletop accessories. Paint a wall in Honeysuckle for a dynamic burst of energy in the family room, kitchen or hallway.

There are many ways to add this bold, positive color into your home. It's the perfect color to liven up any room. I hope these pictures will inspire you to add some Honeysuckle into your home.
